Royal Regards

entry picture

A greeting full of majesty
Graceful.  Replete with charm
Each share a gentle smile
and think “it’s nice to meet you ma’am”

Both have wrinkles they can talk about
and twinkles in their eyes
Layered years of past experience
mean both are worldly wise

So stately and so noble
the pair enjoy their little chat
But while both deserve to wear a crown
only one can wear that hat

The practise of small moments over so many decades are bound to be uplifting for the moment, and treasured like pearls of wisdom. The art of being majestic it seems is to come off the pedestal on a regular basis (the one they have been placed upon by fate). This is a nicely thoughtful poem and the ultimate lines reveal the dilemma.

did you see that bright orange Willy Wonka creation she wore to Manchester recently? Honestly, I think she should've stuck with the blue to match her outfit and maybe just an orange bit of fancy frill to set it all off. But hey I'm not a Royal Watcher, honest.

What I like about this poem is that it describes one exact moment in time caught on camera. There is no concern for the before or after. For all we know the elephant whipped off her hat and plonked it on Philip before the whole meet and greet deteriorated into a farce of Blue Peter proportions.

A charming "nod" to royalty
holding the record for its brand of public service; and the majesty of
those occupying the foreground in the
picture cannot be denied!
