The Loss
This tongue licks lips un-kissed and dry
As a bewildered stare follows a bewildered sigh
The smile once engraved upon this face
Has long lost its sparkle
Has long lost its place
A bellyful of laughs just echo hungrily
Gradually turning into a rumble
Nervously, these hands fumble
With kisses blown
And memory copes with words known
Softly spoken, whispered sweet
Hushed in silence steeped in deceit
Images dance and torment
I stager drunkenly
Sober, slowly falling apart
Unwanted feelings duly flow
Floating,
grasping,
clinging
I languish starved of conversation
An oral mute
Words can’t comfort me

I love the line "husehd in silence steeped in deceit" - it is luscious.
Real counterpoint to "whispered sweet".
Go beyond words.
