"You're so lucky" they say!
"You're so lucky," she said, "you don't have to TRY to fall asleep. You can sleep so easily."
And I smiled shrugged and said, "yeah! This is the thing I never even considered to be thankful for,"
But then when I gave it a thought, I felt so perplexed,
Because to call myself 'lucky' just because I slept 'easily' never seemed like a check point on my to do list next!
So I looked in the thesaurus for the definition of 'sleep'
And found out that it is the state of unconsciousness in which an animal rests both mentally and physically,
And to my surprise, by that line, I hadn't slept for three years, continuously!
I wanted to tell her but something stopped me,
'Why would she bother?' That's all I could see!
So I thought to myself what a great example of an oxymoron had I just found,
Lucky and Me, together when they were bound!
Yes! My mind doesn't ask for a particular time or place for sleep,
Yes! I can close my eyes, wherever, and start to dream,
But that has nothing to do with luck!
Do you know the condition when something disturbing happens and you cry so much that a time comes when you can't even remember why you started crying in the first place?
Do you remember, how, after that exhausting episode of shedding tears over something awful, your body just gives up?!
Do you remember how easily your mind puts you to sleep after that much crying?!
Well, that is how I feel every minute, everyday!
Yes!
That is how I feel every minute, every day!
Do you remember the sounds of your stomach growling after eating something that gives you food poisoning?
How the stomach becomes a treacherous castle guard and throws out everything that touches its surface?
Do you remember the feeling you get after all the vomiting and the sickness,
How your body just gives up?!
How your limbs become jelly and your eyes wear tiredness like a warm blanket around them?!
Do you remember how effortlessly you sleep after that?
Yes!
That is how I feel every minute of every day! That is how I feel every minute of every day!
