RESTORATION
A chair is a chair is a chair
but the one upon which I now am sat
gives me the support I need
and its history is its own,
shaped by restless hands and minds
who know their sockets
their integral parts and how they fit
before the body becomes part of it.
I know their hearts and souls,
have trodden where no average man
has sat before, that is to say
I will not rest until I break them down
and put them together again
much stronger with glue
fresh squeezed,
until a chair is a chair is a chair again
and the one upon which you now are sat
gives you the fresh support you need.

Thank you both Hannah and Anya. The fun of poetry is you never what may come to the mind. The reason I wrote this is that I do furniture restoration and feel a close bond with wood and how stuff is constructed. Much appreciated.
Thanks too Col and Binte for the likes!
