2018 Once more Trev's on his annual Texas Tour Pt 4 Austin to Lamesa
Image: Arrival at Lamesa at Earth Mother Studio, with St George's Flags flying as usual, my trade mark.
17.04.18-96) It’s 6:45 I begin my drive
But first things first cos’ I’m goin far,
So it’s black coffee an’ an energy bar
On 183 I’m headin’ west an’ I see,
Sign says “toll” I don’t care just let me roll
Texas 29, turn left an’ it’s goin’ fine
Through Burnet, and Llano, then breakfast had for this travelin’ lad
The out of Llano take a right an’ run, to Brady on the 71
Then I go through Eden to San Angelo
Don’t bother with the radio, quiet roads, quiet drive gonna keep it so
San Angelo’s past I feel tiredness creep
Over me so I’m gonna stop an’ have a sleep
97) Sleep had, North West of Carlsbad, I wake give my head a shake
Water bottle filled, I’m on my way
Drive’s goin’ fine, soon I’m crossin’ the Sterling County line
Nice an’ cool on the inside, temperature showin’ 90˚ on the outside
Then I’m through Sterling City to Big Spring
Roads still clear so I’m usin’ the old route this year
Big Spring for my midday repast
45 minutes later Lamesa at last
98) The first place to be is Radio KPET
Drop in on Don, let him know what’s going down
Now the Road Poets back in town
Arranged an interview for after “Tell an’ Sell”
He knows they always go down well
Then give Shawnda a call so she can tell me where I need to be
Directions given as to where I’m soon there, we meet, hug an’ greet
A brief chat, I decide not to lurk, but decide to work
Giving the notion it’s time for Earth Day Festival promotion
So off I go to the familiar places I know
Those familiar streets I’m drivin’ down
Thinkin’ “Yes the Road Poet really is back in town”.
Shawnda is Shawnda Clawson founder of the project, we had never met until today but she was told about me by Connie Williams, and that I was in Texas in April and so invited me to join her, I did and was glad, it was a great experience
99) Work on the centre was going steady, to get it ready
For the weekend but certain things had to be right
Cos’ it’s where I’ll be sleepin’ tonight
Initially for disabled war veterans to spend the day,
Now they had all passed away
For years it had lain unused falling into disrepair
Till someone saw the potential there
Staring again like going back to Eden they want to build
A community garden like the Permaculture Guild
And the centre would prove its worth as a studio dedicated to Mother Earth
