2018 Once more Trev's on his annual Texas Tour Pt 6 Lamesa to Kerrville
Image: Sunset from the Lone Star Inn, nice and quiet away from the main road, good value, woul ddeffo stop there again
22.04.18-115) I look ou the window an’ I’m knowin’
Jim’s got a campfire goin’
So outside I’m bound, us an’ the band gather round
An’ soon we’re talkin’ away,
An’ I’m thinkin’ what better way to start the day
116) Me an’ Jim got the portable greenhouse done
Neath the hot Lamesa sun
High in the sky above, a labour of love
So future generations’ll know how to make plants grow
Learnin’ permaculture an’ then some
To pass on to future generations to come
117) Mid afternoon an’ I’m headin’ South,
No need to feel down in the mouth
Had a great time, composin’ an’ recitin’ my rhyme
An’ played my part, givin’ my heart
Helpin’ a permaculture project get a start
Now that’s done, to Kerrville I run
Through Big Spring like before, then a shock, the gasoline costs more
Thought, “not very nice” then saw a sign giving a better price
Less to pay for a tank full them I’m away
Not bereft when Ben left
Cos’ hopefully I’ll see him again at the end of this roam
Before I catch my flight back home
Drivin’ along a dead deer at the roadside
Tells me I’m right to drive in broad daylight
Cos’ it’s one less danger to them at night
Makin good time but then something I feared most,
My gps seemed to give up the ghost
But this travelin’ chap had a plan B a Texas map
Read it the night before to learn, where to turn
Right in Eden, on to Junction, then it kicks in again as if by divine unction
Left on I-10 use the cars power, speed limit says 80 miles per hour
Soon I’m where I want to be an’ booked in,
Kerrville, The Lone Star Inn
Room smells fresh an’ clean, away from the road
With no traffic rumble, should be great when into bed I tumble
So tomorrow goes right, I’m lookin’ forward to an early night.
