NAMEDROPPER

She knows the right people,

names names,

wears them with pride.

Wears jeans by Stella McCartney,

shoes from LK Bennett,

bags by Louis Vuitton.

Her diary is full -

free tickets to first nights

at Glyndebourne, The Palladium,

film premieres.

The ping of a message comes

bringing lavish detail, back story.

She loves everyone to death just in case,

makes dear friends on the wing

in Pseremos, Amalfi.

A lifetime ago it was

a rusty Volvo to Donegal,.

ear to a sea shell, small fantasies.

Well we all have to start somewhere

where the sea rushes in and out

with so much to shout about.

Hi Ray! Great work as usual! We all know people like this, and perhaps were fond of them when they had the rusty Volvo! Probably they were happier too^

Thanks Keith for observational comments. The lady in question is my wife's friend of many years, her mother was in service - from humble beginnings the inflation began -there is a need for pretence ingrained. She has enough money to live the dream!

Brian, I checked out that track - what a genius. He was Undervalued at the time, but full of social gems. I love "back yard bacchanal." Cheers!

Thanks for all your likes, Col, Jon, Anya, Becky and Uncover.

Ray - was this inspired by Jake Thackray's 'Kirkstone Road Girl'? If not it should have been.

Ray,
You paint a picture of some gushing woman who desperately seeks attention. I have known a number os such people, men also, who conceal a rather inadequate personality. The poem is well put together and the final stanza really does have the final say.
Thank you for this.
Keith
