Very abled
It’s hard to have a voice when you don’t know what to say.
Endless anxieties, things don’t usually go my way.
I’m Included, then excluded, mainly due to funding.
Is this empathy genuine? It really has me wondering.
People with disabilities are considered “unfortunate.”
Decisions made for them, somewhat subordinate.
Establishment changes at the drop of a hat.
Two steps forward, three steps back.
I don’t want pity or special arrangements.
I want opportunity like you, to make my own statements.
No one knows me better than I know myself.
Ask me personally, not the book on the shelf.
My needs will differ from what you may have been taught.
Before you implement changes, please give me a thought.
