A Bloody Disgrace
A Bloody Disgrace
For the past 17 years in Australia
We've loaded tampons with a tax
They've been classed as a 'luxury item'
(I don't even know what to say about that...)
How bloody unfair was this situation
When condoms and Viagra were tax-free
Women had no choice in getting periods
So why should they be slugged 'cause they're 'she'?
When the law was first drafted in Parliament
In Australia all of 17 years ago
You are right, it was men pushed it through
No women on board to say no
Times have now changed thankfully
More women in Parliament, more with say
Tampons they have now been made tax-free
With things much more fairer today
I've seen a tampon, know all about them
And I know about sanitary pads
They do the job what they're designed for
But luxurious? You've got to be mad

It defies common sense, let alone a basic understanding
of the human condition to see these items as taxable
(e.g. luxury) items. They should be categorised as
"essential health items" and issued accordingly.
