Five years ago poet Linda Chase and musical director Chris Davies got together to form Poets and Players. They began in Didsbury, but were soon invited to put on events at Whitworth Art Gallery, and at other venues across Manchester. Now well known for their imaginative programming of established poets and musicians performing alongside newer writers, they regularly draw large audiences.

On Saturday, 23^rdJanuary, Poets and Players will be performing a special celebratory programme of words and music at The Whitworth Art Gallery on Oxford Road, Manchester, to celebrate their fifth anniversary. The event begins at 2.30pm and admission is free.
