Leaving in time

We're all leaving in time. Wait your turn in line. We all smile and say it'll be fine. But we're all leaving in time.

We're all spending our last dime. But we all sigh and wait till Friday again. We're all praying to God. But we're all living in sin.

We're all shedding our tears. But wait. Just give it a few years and you'll be at it again.

We all tried to sing to the song. But we all know it's coming out an octave off, we know some how something about it will always be wrong.

I'm questioning when I became the unbreakable statue. I'm whispering. Trying to sneak past you.
Surely we know it never ends. We just hold our breath and count to ten. And then start all over again.
The sun has set outside and it will rise again tomorrow. Except when it doesn't.

We're all leaving our things behind. In hopes that we'll circle back round' to the same path to pick them up again. But we should all know we've been caught holding our breath once more. After all, what is oxygen even meant for. But to enslave us and deprave us of something we so crave to touch with bare hands. Something that depraves us when we're without and only exists here on land. Stealing our circulation. Stealing our desperation away, leaving us fighting to let any kind of sound out. Leaving us struggling for the thing we so desperately need. Our mouth open gasping for life. Our eyes wide with surprise when we jerk away, as we feel the cut of the knife.

As if we didn't know it was coming.

We're all just an iceberg away from freezing to death. But we swear not till hell freezes over.

I'm gasping for understanding - I'm planning my landing.

But I already met ground, in the bottom of the ocean. Queiting myself away from all the commotion.

We're all leaving in time. But we'll look at the sign. And go the opposite way of which it directs without even trying.

I especially like the opening line which sets the mood and
the message. We live with the known (to an extent) and
wait in hopeful resigned ignorance for the unknown.
You can't take it with you! So why not make the best of
what you have while you're here...doing no harm to others -just doing the best you can.
