Her Venomous Prince
Her Venomous Prince
He enters her life with what she needs most Thoughtful, caring friend with a wounded soul Whispering compliments, banishing ghosts Silvery, forked tongue snakes a path toward his goal
To his tempting web she willingly fled Away from her problem-filled life she ran Only to find his spider’s heart was dead Once trapped in the web, she sees the real man
He stands at a distance, too far to reach Still shining and tempting while her heart breaks He tries to shift roles, new lessons to teach What the Lord giveth, a sinful man takes
Craving his presence, in whatever role She falls to her knees and takes on the guise Of dutiful student, her heart not whole Her friend, now mentor, still weaving his lies
His venomous words still corrode her heart Achingly sweet and yet bitterly phrased Their soul connection he never will part As his presence dwindles, still hopes are raised
Needs and desires are tempered by faith Friendship still lingers, and hope carries on His contact she craves, awaits as a wraith Day after week after month this goes on
Each time she is one breath from letting go Of the dreams and hopes his false words gave life He appears and tempts, his spirit is low ‘Don’t leave, I need you to cope with my strife’
His life, his wife, his children, and she It’s not worth living if any are gone Such sweet, painful words won’t set her heart free So she stays, and longs for wisdom to dawn
She knows now his truths, constructed of lies Were meant to entice, to seduce, to bind Her heart to his will, her spirit his prize Once broken, his challenge is done, she’ll find
With wiser eyes open, she will decide To pick up the pieces, move on, let go From her true emotions she will not hide To her life she turns, to a love she knows
He stood by her side, through loss of reason Through love and heartbreak, he was always there Her rock, her partner, through every season No matter the cost, it hardly seems fair
That she should deserve his undying love Unconditional acceptance he brings Blessed with serenity, peace from above Her heart rejoices and her spirit sings
Ready at last to let go of the dream She now sees as nightmare, venomous lies Her Prince she erases, but still it seems To say goodbye, seek closure would be wise
Satisfaction was never an offer Her dreams he never designed to achieve Peace he would never add to her coffer Closure he’d never allow she believes
For the door she sought to close in her heart Was sealed, removed by her venomous prince His selfish, vindictive actions did part Dreams from her mind, but heart she must convince
For despite his poisonous words and deeds Her knowledge and awareness of his faults Still the longing persists, as do the needs Like scars on her spirit, from his assaults
These scars remain, a constant reminder Of the fool she was and how weak she is To fall for lies from a slick side winder No matter how skilled and practiced he is
Now wary, emotions and feelings nil She trudges through life, avoiding all signs Of potential traps or seductive will Careful with boundaries, not crossing the lines
Her spirit was willing, her flesh was weak Her heart was broken, confidence shattered Now her spirit, once strong and free, is meek Her confidence in her judgment, tattered
And so she exists, a shell of herself Broken and wounded by lies and betrayal Her hearts’ love, once open, sits on a shelf Because she believed his princely portrayal
