Hope
HOPE
Hope is a hateful thing
Springing eternal
Flying in the face
Of realism
Hope is buoyant, irrepressible
By its very nature
Floating high into the
Stratosphere
At the slightest hint
Of good news
It makes you think
Maybe
Just maybe
Despite reality
Despite what you know
To be true
And solid
And reliable
Concrete
Because who says reality
Always wins, always…
Comes out on top
Reality is concrete
Non malleable
Unaffected
Weighed down by gravity
You know gravity, that
Universal
law, that
Undeniable
force
An absolute certainty
In our world
In league with
Death
And taxes
To defy gravity, to
Overcome
Its reality
You must rise above
Our world
Enter the "outer limits"
The realm of "Hope"
And you'll float there
For awhile
Feeling good
Imbued with
Hope
Until your head explodes
And reality sets in
And you plummet
Back down
To the "real world"
And you and
Your hopeful
Illusions shatter
Like so much glass
Think Hope will
cushion your fall?
