Christianity and other myths
With legs neatly crossed
and a glass in her hand,
cigarette held to her mouth
her head tilted back listening:
she exhaled- paused,
then in reply said:
''You forget about the fall back
position of Christianity;
'Limbo',
according to the Catholic church
all 'souls' that had no faith
but were without sin- ended up there.''
she pressed her cigarette firmly out
in the saucer provided-
and continued;
''I envisage billions of babies
crawling around for eternity,
crying for their mums!''
Tommy Carroll 2008
Limbo, in Roman Catholic theology, the border place between heaven and hell where dwell those souls who, though not condemned to punishment, are deprived of the joy of eternal existence with God in heaven.
