A Covered Mood
A Covered Mood
A heavy blanket is drawn over the
town and surrounding countryside
The world is opaque, shapes emerge from nowhere
sounds kept in a restraining abeyance
Time is no longer discernible, clarity has
departed to other places
My heart and mind find no solace
as I am a solitary figure grey and old
A finality pervades the gloom of my subdued room
is this how the end will be heralded
The last curtain, a fire screen
lowered as the actors bow their farewell
Tears run down the inside of my heart
puddles of sadness dampen my frailty
There cannot be any more time as the
shroud of grey is being laid out
Bereft of real emotion or any enlivened response
I sit quietly out of respect for my past
Was it of any value now that it is
nearly all gone
