Happy Little Hillbillys Counter

 

Preamble

(Hillbillys is a cafe = caff)

 

The little chap was wanting to

Show the caff and me

What he'd learned to just express

Mathematically

 

We listened so intently as

He began his count at one

And entertain the audience with

His just-learned number run

 

At twenty was he finished, yes?

(No way, he'd just begun)

Looks like we had to settle back

Until he was all done

 

At ninety nine he'd proved to all

Mathematically unbeaten

His mum then gently reminded him

“Your food needs to be eaten”

 

We gave the chap a silent clap

When he was said and done

When suddenly across the caff

We heard “one-hundred-and-one.......”
