Unseated
Unseated
Empires rise and fall
no matter how mighty and tall
When an empire has had its day
it is time to look for another way
Rome the all powerful and great
is now only a small city state
The British Empire on which the
sun never set
now has a very substantial debt
The time has come for another empire
to fall and crumble
as its inhabitants begin to tremble
Uncle Sam the American Eagle
will soon no longer be so regal
A new rising star is in the east
a strong and mighty beast
China teeters on the brink of
being a world power
as other nations begin to cower
Empires rise and fall
no matter how mighty and tall

Don't forget the Assyrians, the Egyptians, the Persians, the Greeks, the Mongols, the Aztecs, the Russians, the Dutch, the Portuguese, the Austrian-Hungarians, and the Turks (the Germans and the French are too obvious to bother with).
More recent candidates will probably pollute themselves off the face
of the planet.
