If you liked my poetry

If I could take the thoughts you most like to think

And sculpt them into text that speaks to you as art,

If I could take the feelings you most want to share

And mirror them in words, reflected in your heart,

Then would you more easily forgive my selfish pen?

Excuse the vacant looks, the lost half-hours when

I am not yours, as I wander some distant mental shore?

If you liked my poetry, perhaps you’d love me more.

For the 6th April NaPoWriMo.net prompt “a poem that emphasizes the power of “if”, of the woulds and coulds and shoulds of the world.” I don't think I've managed that, it's just become an exercise in the conditional, but hey.

My mind won't do what it's told to
Like write 'if' as said by NaPoWriMo
It just fritters round at the edges
Commenting on things as it goes

Now don't be too hard on yourself Beck
You incorporated if, would, and could/should
As asked by the NaPoWriMo bosses
So from my point of view you did good

Excuse me while I side-track a bit Beck
But Vautaw has written something 'new'
Poems we choose not to post up
Are probably ones our souls long to read

(interesting...)

Love this one! I am doing the same thing, writing, but not posting all of them, which are probably the ones our souls long to read. Someday perhaps. Way to go on sticking with NaPoWriMo! ?

PS I didn't miss a day I just haven't subjected WOL to all my trite napowrimo scribblings. Find me on Instagram if you really want the whole caboodle complete with cheesy images.
