i ain't much of a poet

i just fool around with it

like most things i tried

i ain't very good at it

but i still like to do it

it keeps me busy

and keeps my mind off of women

which is what all men ever think about

now i write on occasion

and occasionally get one right

but the fun part is

seeing people's reaction

they caint believe an old buzzerd like me

would entertain such an intellectual endeavor

you see i never graduated college

not even high school

i barely got out of elementary

the only reason was

i got too big for the desk

now if you dont' like this here poem

you can delete it

but just remember

a poem is a moment in a man's life

that he thought enough of

to write down and record on paper

that is hard work and pretty important

because it takes effort for a man to actually think

much less write

so don't go throwin' away a mans thoughts

they mean a lot to him

and are the most important thing he owns

 

(other than his ice chest and his recliner).
