Feather Power
Feather Power
Warriors seek to show their form
strutting ever upon their lawn
heed not at your peril they seem to say
all who pass must never stray
onto this grass so verdant green
or they will redden this perfect scene
Such aims of forceful exclusions take
freedom from all who stand and quake
or fly by in a greater haste
no time for such, have they to waste
And so the peacocks strut afresh
no need for them to place some mesh
to defend the grounds they claim
all part of their old mating game
until such time as fresh young males
come to start their own brave tales
And so it was for many centuries
a strategy they learn with ease
from genes that carry to every male
or they won't be displaying tail
as splendidly as we've come to see
in places known from our history
But while I find their splendour very fine
for vigilence I would make geese guardians mine
as such alarm they make to strangers seen
their noisy vigour doth look so very mean....
