Rock pools

 

Six-year-old sandaled feet

Combing the beach,

Looking for tidal treasures

Far out of reach.

Crimson sea anemone,

Scurrying crabs,

Dashing and darting fish,

They could be dabs.

Tiger-striped razor shells,

Enchanting echinoderms,

Aubergine mussels,

Busy, bustling terns.

Six-year-old sandaled feet

Dragging home to bed,

Vivid visions of volcanic rock pools,

And dreams filling my head.
