Out To Pasture

I've been put out to pasture

a horse nobody rides

fenced in by posts and bob wire

the place I now reside

Since I don't gallop good no more

tend to stumble on the run

and my old bones get mighty sore

why I need the warmth of sun

All I do now is sleep and eat

put on some extra pounds

but relief from rub of saddle is

a better thing I found

Contentment replaced wildness

in this here neck of woods

and mares just don't excite me

my wildness gone for good

I measure life in lazy days

my life is now so tame

I'm just a used-up saddle horse

kids pet my head and mane

Yep, I been put to pasture

some may think it's kinda sad

but I still have my memories

so Out to Pasture ain't all bad.
