Grapes
The rain soaked vine
intertwined
branches and leaves
weaved
with fruit bunched and bark
dark
Scissors poised near bunch
munch
a few that pop
drop
in the bag the rest
the best
Soaked to the skin
grin
crouch down to see below
glow
of wet purple blush
lush
Buzzing all around
sound
not alone by the fruit
"shoot"
carefully with scissors clip
"snip"
Yellow and black striped wasp
stops
sipping at small things
stings
my thumb in the rain
pain
Still more to gather
rather
than stop harvest goes on
wasp gone
sun suddenly breaks through
sky-blue
Carry all up the hill
fill
pots with the sweet
meat
of the harvest task
bask
Cook down to mash
smash
all through a sieve
give
fruit, juice, and jam away
Such a nice day.

Mae,
Thank you for reading and commenting. I made another batch of juice today (I was not stung by a wasp this time thankfully). It is so sweet and satisfying that I wonder how we ever got to wine, the juice being so good before fermentation.
