Responding In Kind

What is the cost

of a reply?

a simple word

or two

any message sent

is deeply meant

especially

for you

deletion

of a message

causes heartache

through and through

when a message

goes unanswered

it can be

misconstrued

you say

you are too busy

you have better

things to do

but really

it's a matter

of taking time away

from You

any response at all

is worthy

with that we

can conclude

think no further

think of others

a response in kind

will do.

Sometimes it is even more than impolite. I have been using the expression that silence is violence. Thank you for sharing the poem.

Having come to the cyberworld late in life I bought a number of guides to help me adapt of its various demands. I recall that it was
mentioned that emails received should be acknowledged promptly -and in any event, within 48 hours. I have always endeavoured to
follow this instruction/advice and don't think much of those either ignorant or unaware of what is, basically, common courtesy
in matters of contact/communication. Even if a FULL reply is not
possible, a brief acknowledgement is surely within the capability of
most of us, fit and not-so-fit. Who likes - or deserves - to be left
"hanging"...unsure of the receipt of a message in this world with its electronic failures and an increasing inability among many to actually use a pen to write a letter!

Keith says it dk. Good manners are declining, sadly. Your poem expresses it well.

d.k.,

This poem broaches the subject of good manners which are in rapid decline. Over the years there has been a noticeable pattern of letters not being answered or even acknowledged. Sadly if reflects the times we we live in.

Thank you for this

Keith

poets yearn for recognition and acceptance-
begging your pardon
but begging for a response.
