What becomes of those

whose birthday falls

on Christmas eve or

Christmas day

they get shut out

and are appalled

that their birthdays

get skipped this way

 

no cards, no cakes

they are ignored

for Christmas gifts

are all assigned

In holidays

all are absorbed

we forget the child

so hurt inside

 

unremembered

and deceived

one cannot know

the hurt received

they won't forget

they were ignored

their egos damaged

evermore

 

so let us now give

praise and song

to that forgotten child

so badly wronged

and promise

we will now begin

to be better parents

and better friends

 

at long last eyes

are opened wide

for our past sins

we apologize

with humbled hearts

we kindly pray

to remember you

on your special day.
