May Cause Drowsiness
There are all those drugs
on the aisle that say
"May Cause Drowsiness"
the very word
makes you drowsy
hear how it sounds
so sleepy so droopy
like eyelids ready to close
just pronouncing the word drowsy
makes you drowsy
this poem
may make you drowsy as well
my poems seem to
have that effect on people
but take it anyway
swallow it whole
by the time you wake up
you will have forgotten you read it
like Tryptophan in turkey
the poem will put you to sleep
but without any
unwanted side effects
you can still drive
and operate heavy machinery.

d.k.,
Drowsy and amelioration or escape all seem to come to mind with this poem. Feelings which keep reality at bay. Perhaps this can be related to those who regularly use illegal drugs as a means of coping with life´s difficulties. A poem to ponder on.
Thanks
