When a whale falls

in no time at all

it becomes a feast

for denizens deep

 

how sad a death

its sight appalls

a smorgasbord

a shopping mall

 

the beast won't keep

eternal sleep

as feeders feed

strip away its meat

 

those banquet guests

have all the gall

fast food it's called

come one come all.

 

*Dead whales sink to the ocean floor.   Here they become a wild banquet that will last decades. This process, known in the ocean science community as a Whale Fall, creates an entire ecosystem around the carcass becoming a restaurant for all manner of alien-like creatures of the depths.  |
