Hi Sian,
thanks for your comment on my poem 'the one which nearly got away.'
I wrote it specifically for performance which is the reason it's quite different from some of my other postings which are ok for 'read arounds' but not so much if i decide i need to let off steam, so to speak. :-)
Hope you are well,
Janet.x

Hi Sian, Thanks for your comment about different dad - and the request for an audio version. I've not done one before so it took a bit of fiddling between machines but I'm putting one up this evening (if I can)

Thanks for the encouragement Sian, I wrote that straight after attending a funeral. I rarely write pieces in that style, I should experiment more.

Hi Sian, Thanks for your comment on "Not like the rest". It is a true tragedy, but sadly not rare enough. I was close to psychiatric illness for a long time and got to see lots of flaws in the system, I also saw lots of good bits but don't tend to write about them.

I've a new poem going up later which is much less serious.

By the way "One step behind" is lovely and lets the reader create so much of their own story around it. It could apply to so many people and relationships.

Hi Sian

Yes tell me about ..Love... I know nothing...just feel my way... so as to speak... and a strange subject for me to be dwelling on...people expect less of me... must get back to the shallow and ranty ribald...ever the court jester.

fondest
Gusx

Thank you for taking the time to read Lullaby. We lose them all eventually don't we, especially after investing so much emotional currency. Thanks again. Graham

I wanted to ask if it was. there is a great pride in giving so much of ourselves so they can stride on and walk tall into the future- without that soundind twee- this feeling of enormity is as overwhelming to me at the moment as when they were born. but enjoying these ever-changing moments. thank- you for your comments too x

I agree with Winston "one step behind" , i really enjoyed how i could re-read it and apply it differently to my own different relationships, I was especially taken aback when applied to my children- it felt empowering with a strong sense of pride- and worship. x

I have to do a lot of reading for the course this term and it has helped a lot with my writing - Carol Ann Duffy and Sujata Bhatt are good in terms of style and technique.

Dear Sian,

Thank you ever so much for your comments on 'Howling Hollow'

I have just read your poem 'one step behind' and Iike the way it deals with change, i like the arrangement and I like the way you put 'the gaining...the poise'

one step behind someone, as you say a shadow. The submissive quality leaves you wanted to get level, someone you admire(d) is ahead, as though they are superior

I like this whole concept

Peter.

Hi Sian,
thanks for your comment on my profile page.
Welcome to wol and hope you enjoy it here.
I'll check out your poetry and you can be sure i'll comment.
I think all poets and writers include some of their own experiences into their work. It might not be intentional but it's always there. It's part of life.

Hi there
There is an interesting vagueness to your poem "One Step Behind" it could mean different things to different people and their relationships.
