Hi, me again! Linda suggested I forward the "Who Am I?" poem I read on Saturday - if Maggie, perhaps, would like to read it?
Who Am I ?
We couldn’t be Drifters;
we wanted to:
too late – they already existed
in the USA
Those days in the Two I’s coffee bar,
strumming and singing
and longing for stardom
That came, sure enough,
and I practised my Presley
curling lip
and swivelling hip
and wore pink socks
and loved a living doll
But that was
when we were
The Young Ones –
Now
Shadows of strains
of a summer holiday –
all these are mine:
Mistletoe and wine –
Retired? – No - I’m just wired
For sound

It all Happened on Saturday at Stockport Art Gallery - - -
Andy started the show don't you know
John the film director making that camera roll
Linda reading Liverpool poetry work-shop coming up
Maggie using expressive words for positive poems
Meshach arrived to give us pure gold
Nigel had orders not to be naughty!
We were joined by a fine band of experienced poets who made it a worthwhile event through and through!
There will be a W O L work-shop on April 9th 10.30-12 .30 also at the Art Gallery.
Followed by an open mic in the afternoon at 3.30-4-30.

I am sorry, John, but I have to correct you! - I began my working life as a humble junior, not rising to the dizzy heights of a secretarial role until some years later! - perhaps you mis-heard me - and yes, my memory serves me well! (well it does for long time ago, but not always for what happened last week!)
Have a lovely Christmas, one and all!
Love and blessings...Dorinda x

The Staleybridge poems look great - my personal favourite is 'Somewhere Else'.
As for the Paris massacre, the real question is 'why doesn't it happen more often?' Many urban districts in Europe (the UK included) are full of hate-filled, disenfranchised and alienated young men with nothing to lose. Little wonder they seek out 'causes' to fight and die for - indeed, I suspect we will witness more of these atrocities in the months ahead.

Each tear of grief
an Angel will rise.
Sending love and understanding
to families suffering pain.
Faith will bring strength

I weep for you, Paris,
Every beautiful boulevard,
Every humble street
Whose pavements so often have welcomed my feet –
Every drop of blood shed;
Every beating heart dead;
Every au revoir said –
Your heart-beat is mine, too:
Paris, I weep for you –
And WE say to hate: you will never destroy
Good. And we SHALL sing for joy –
This, I will ever recall –
But, for now, my tears fall…

Hello everyone!
I was so looking forward to visiting Marsden today, and had some work ready to read (must have got the performance bug last year!). However, I have been battling with a heavy cold for three days now, pretty unsuccessfully, and don't feel well enough to attend (and may not make WOL Stockport tomorrow evening?)
However, I had to smile this morning as I saw the reading on my perpetual calendar: Ecclesiastes 3 v 7 -
"There is a time to keep silence and a time to speak".
That is the absolute truth; the Lord really does have a sense of humour.
Have a great time today at Marsden!
Love, Dorinda x

The Enchanted Art Gallery Weekend
Went down yesterday they have already set up some of the work down stairs for viewing.
I think our work will be put upstairs where we meet and they are still sorting out all the art work that has been accepted.
They have had seventy pieces sent in and are very pleased with the high quality of creativity.

Hello all
As you know, we are thinking about making a poetic contribution to an anti smoking campaign in Heaton Norris. Aside from the obvious health issues, there is also the problem of people tossing dimps out of upstairs windows of high rise flats.
Here is the email by Naomi Whitman, the Creative Media Centre Project Manager:
'We’re still in very early stages of the project at the moment and are looking at a co-comission model with a group of residents. I think we’re also going to do some work around a research model to really understand what piece of work will best fulfil the health agenda for reducing smoking - we want it to be pretty hard hitting and thought provoking!
'I love the sound of the kinds of work you do, perhaps a meet up to explore further, as well as for other ventures might be helpful?'
So, please feel free to post your proposals and ideas.

We all enjoyed it and sometimes another poet gives your own poem a slightly different feel to it when reading with another vocal pace to each line.
