oops! a P.S.
If you're writing YOUR story, whether 100% autobiographical or embellished, remember that to everyone else it is just a story. We are all the most fascinating people in our own lives, doesn't always follow that we are fascinating people - the more autobiographical your writing is, the more difficult it can be to keep some onjectivity!

Some advice I was given years ago - may or may not come in useful ...
- Do a re-write, strip away every single adjective so you are left with just the skeleton, put back only those that make a difference to what you want to say.
- If you are really, really, really impressed with what you've written - put it in the bin.
- Prefer the anglo-saxon.
Would always be delighted to take a look at anything you've written.
You know the Clough? - whereabouts are you?

Sorry about spoiling your illusions about reading snowmen .... guess tonight is not the best night to tell you about Father Christmas then?
Hope you have a good 'un too.

HI Gus, I have met and dated such pigs. But when their true colors came out, it was over. Its amazing, how some can hide, how they really are for a time. Its a pitty when you love them, and think they just had a bad day, or that they will change, they wont change. great poem you have there.

Not me C... Far from it.....wish I could take ya for a whatever you drink to discuss it ....moreover to convince you I believe in what you say without question.I find you refreshingly forthright and strong..... Dont get many of those to the pound these days.... I know that I could be counted among the most ardent of your fans.

No need to apologise - I rarely take offence. Trying to square up - bit of a wimp, always worrying about upsetting other people, now trying to consider if they're upsetting me. Sorry to hear you find me intimidating, maybe just too intense? :-)

I think there's some sort of telepathy thing going on here - last week when I was playing with some lines around the theme of ' You took my music from me & now I want it back, y'bastard!' - you posted your musically based 'Fat Elvis'. And this week I've been scribbling my 'Men! Can't live with 'em! Can't shoot 'em!' verse, and here you are pipping me to the post again with your mcp rap! Hey ho - back to the drawing board.
Just to warn you - next week I'm probably going with the themes of visiting relatives for Christmas, and maybe a rousing chorus of If you think my family's barmy - take a look at yours. 'Tis the season to be jolly, after all.

When I logged on earlier today I saw a song you had written, which I thought looked interesting. I didn't have the time to read it properly or comment, and now I've come back - I can't find it. Did I imagine it? was it not yours? Am I seeing things? Can you answer these pointless questions?

No need to apologise - it's an excellent piece, and I think, I am not alone (on here!) in using poetry as a sort of therapy. Do you know the song Everybody Hurts by REM? - it tends to get sung in an angsty way, but if you listen to the lyrics it is actually saying ... get over it for God's sake - you're not unique!
Does everybody know what S N A F U means, do you think?
I agree about spreading the love and the smiles and I'm taking the tablets in order to keep doing so!
Commiserations about the golf course, but keep that grin fixed!

Hi Gus, to answer your question. A place called Rutherglen (A borough at one point) on the edge of the city centre. Comes under South Lanarkshire. I love Edinburgh too. Used to go there a lot. I keep intending to go to the open mic nights in Glasgow when I visit the family. Maybe this December I'll make a special effort. It's bound to be full of interesting and strong characters I'm sure!

Gus I just want to say I thoroughly enjoyed your performance about the (in)ability to excetute a bowel movement at FREED UP - it was simply marvellous.
