LOSS (Remove filter)
did I ever say I was “good people”?
did I ever say I was “good people”?
some days I miss the hasty shouting
the crack of fist on salted cheekbones
better that than the nauseous choice
of considered upholstery or designer phones
never weather appropriate, rather, accident
ripped and bleeding, waiting for some other
and days my head will fill with men of war
always in shock yet mostly in awe
a...

Lost
Never-ever
ever again
will he turn
his baby face
towards my voice
as he did,
those hours
before
he died.
O! his blue-blue eyes,
that long ago
land
of lost content:
my son and I,
'neath a darkening sky.

A LONELY LAMENT
A LONELY LAMENT
The spark of a flame
In the dream of your eyes
Flickering life
In a darkening sky
The depths of a life
Of torment and pain
A swirling pull
From a deepening drain
But heat yet remains
To warm the heart
Of those so dearly
Torn apart
A cold wind blows a tear
Across the cooling fires
The rain of love
Falling through life's briars
A river of sorrow
Streaking ...

Poem For A Friend
The clocks stop and time ends
Nothing more for you my friend
Life is in the moment of breath
And when it no longer comes
nothing is left but death
No more talk
No more chit chat
No more conversation
The blonde barmaid is safe from our lusty eyes
and the rock music industry must go on
without our criticism
The bell rings and time ends
Last orders f...

She, Mourning
She pressed her hand against the marble, felt its words,
Ran her weathered finger through the crafted names.
Many faces that had long since adventured,
Left for others lingering to bear the pain.
The autumn sun caressed its face and warmed the stone,
She drew it through her skin and let it stay a while.
Her silver head was bowed, her company her own,
To spend a few more moments...

At the Beat of a Drum
At the beat of a drum,
The world changed,
Blamed on many,
Caused by few.
At the still of a heart,
The world stopped,
Spun by many,
Ceased by two.
At the loss of a soul,
The world cried,
Tears of many,
All for you.

Noticed
Noticed
I lived my life, most often, like a ghost,
ethereal, drifting from room to room,
a chill chasing me from pillar to post.
Rippling across the senses of those whom,
in solitude, sought meaning in their life
before they passed beyond it to the tomb.
I was not noticed by them, or my wife
who gladly let me rest in silent shade
whilst stab...

Peter Goes West
I do not presume to judge you
Now that you are gone,
The leaf would've fallen anyway
The bird would've flown,
Taking talisman, tarot deck
And Ayn Rand tome,
On a journey to far West
Your spiritual home.
Land of parking lots and desert malls,
Skateboards on the board walks,
Beggars in the bleachers
watching volleyba...

For I am Gone
Do not look for me, for I am gone.
I am the silent songs of birds, the words
Of ancient etchings scratched off warm stones.
The lone tumbleweed on open sands,
Spreading nothing more across vast lands
And crashing into sparse trees.
I am the breeze on the path that is left behind.
The vacant mind of an elderly man captured
In a photograph. I am the white edge,
The ledge of a pr...

Saint Stephen's tale
It's Friday, sweets from Mrs Smith
Degeneration X and anarchy
Frankie's words: two tables, four chairs, suspension.
Discovered passing the buck, and thus passed it.
Stole the show with Twenty-one Questions, four dancers, and a singer.
First girlfriend changed everything, "You're young, she has baggage - get rid..." … did...

Untitled
Withered flowers fastened to a wasting bench,
Its plaque and pickled paint are weathered long.
The buckled slats curl flecks on harshest winter's freeze.
Where age defies intent to which it did belong.
As passers-by whom in their daily cues entrenched,
They, wrapped in woolen shields, look blindly on
And notice not the broken petals on the breeze,
Nor sense the echo of a parted...

I Miss You
Hello there,
Angel from my nightmares.
Devil from my dreams
a grey spirit that weaves
its way through my existence.
What a Dementor does to souls
or a Dalek to a human heart.
Even a superhuman heart
can break.
Just ask Logan,
a force so strong
a returning phoenix
could not reignite remnants.
I miss you.
Whatever yo...

Waves (A Final Letter Home)
I lie and let the waves wrap 'round my feet,
As midnight skies perform the second act,
Where black and blue so effortlessly meet
And force the waters cold around my back.
I feel the sand bequeath my buried toes;
To let the grit defy my sodden skin
And as the open door to my soul grows
I let the frothy waters trickle in.
The moonbeams push my head into a daze
And buckle up t...

Are you that easy to forget?
.
Into the bleak after hour
where dreams blend into
hopes that have gone sour
I am one of many, upon rocks
ocean spume that wet your socks.
Why do you walk the shores
with socked feet?
When bare footed symphonies
lift their song in your chest
above outstretched branches of tress
I am one of many grains of sand,
nameless stars cupped in hand.
Will y...

Lost
A face of steel is easy
When hidden behind.
Lost in false hope,
Drowning under memories
That my shoulders cannot hold;
They buckle in sharp flaws.
Watch me break at dawn
And vanish into dust.
My soul entrenched
Under a cotton shroud,
Unable to rise.
I will never again stand
So boldly.
Time, the only healer,
Has stopped,
...

Mortality
I see him at my window tonight.
The moon, full and bright
Casts his dark shadow onto an icy wall.
A familiar silhouette, unmistakable,
Pressed against the pane.
The cold melts his breath into feathery diamonds
Running in thin veins down the thick glass.
His face, hidden and veiled in black
Glances my way and nods;
I nod back
Acceptingly. Suddenly,
The glass no longer divid...
