long hair (09/06/2024)

sometimes I feel like my long hair
what hides and reveals
what some version
small and soft
lives tangled in the unkempt locks
where it takes work to get to my mother's eyes
her cheekbones
a hair's breadth between.
it's the distance between being looked at
and being seen.

shorn, I feel the shame of nakedness
rather than it's splendor

I feel the parts of me worth hiding
in t...

Grandad's Shed

So many warm afternoons
spent in my Grandad’s endless garden
Home to my first and only treehouse
when air-raid siren tests
still filled those Northern streets

And most magical of all
the rough lumber shed he’d built
A place of wooden-handed tools
you had to carefully maintain with oil
tools that would have been his grandad’s

A place where big furry bees
chose to die with dignity

Repeat

Past pain learned
Burned within our hearts
Anything related
We set flames
Agitated
Our inner demons
Slowly seeming
That anything that provokes
The insecurity
Fixated on the remote
Event that occurred
Reliving the feeling
The heart's been concealing
We push away
The one we think is causing the pain
When it's our own projection
A reflection
That we need to heal
Slowly start to ...

Your Way Will Find You

I will defend your right
to say things that I don’t like
and though I may disagree
it doesn’t mean that I detest you
I’ll try my best to understand
how you reached that point of view

However uneasy listening
don’t bite your tongue
Let us see and hear you
come and speak freely
You may offend me
but then I’ll know we’re not in tune

Perhaps we’ll both learn something
if but how to be...

A New Birth

I was born at twenty-one

Thrust out of the womb

Released into the newness of life

Born, at twenty one

Eyes opened to the world

Crying, struggling, fighting

Trying to make sense of it all

Yes, I was only born at twenty-one

Borne out of education

Borne out of society’s expectations

Borne out of comfort, out of the shield

Though I lived before

I was onl...

Cairo On The Radio

Down the endless garden
to a hand-built shed of wonders
and little me, sitting with my grandad
listening to all the voices
pushing through the static

What magic in those wires!
The narrow band, the wide
The squelch and the gain
The whistle and the whine
sounds I’ll never forget

The spectrum of a planet
chattering
Such wisdom in rough fingers
so deft upon the dial
gently they’d ...

A Declaration

I'm sorry for the things I said
Sorry for the ways I hurt you.

I know sometimes I neglect you,
I find ways to desert you.

I didn't know you wanted me, I didn't know I was allowed
I didn't know I was allowed to love you and keep you for myself.
Your lights, your eyes, your body, your smile,
They're all for me now.

You'll never walk alone,
You'll never feel untouched,
You'll never ha...

Unborn

A miracle?

Prevented, unplanned, unknown.

...

2020.

4 years later.

3 years old, I can’t imagine,

life;

what it would be like.

Love,

is what,

I thought it was.

Learned,

you can love and let go.

For a reason, everything happens, they say.

Believed, I believe it.

A miracle.

A lesson.

You were a lesson.

Today,

I would not be who,

I am,

wit...

CONFIDENCE

If you learn from the past
Improving your future
Then you'll achieve the goal
And reach it safely faster

Pay an attention to move
Know the direction to go
Have time to Improve
Act well, not only "show"

Earn your people' regard
And don't cross the fence
Know the value of the word
Now you've got confidence

I Maybe Fragile

{I Maybe Fragile}

I maybe fragile but I am

me I will battle back

with all I have inside

of me until I no longer

can continue my battle

And just because I

am fragile doesn't mean

that I will break if you

touch me

And I may get a little

bit but more than likely

nothing will happen

so don't be alarmed

and afraid of me or

His writing was leaving me wanting more of his countless thoughtful thinking of my writing style and his word's are still visitable to my eyes and it has me yearning, wanting to know more about this man that is kind with his wisdom that is beyond his golden year's that had me reviewing his word's of beauty that had placed a big smile upon my face and lit up my eyes with...

Spring Tanka

A winter bite that

mocks the spring, pincers its cocoon.

A life supported?

Cease one's internal decay,

Even ice melts. Love's fluidity.
