Oh, my homeland
I don't know how to define you,
whether it is your land or your people,
some abstract idea
or those who now are absent

Oh, my homeland
you died from lack of conscience,
an unusual detachment;
they sold your freedom for coins
that today do not even pay
your burial with of grace

I don't know if the poet's dreams are inert,

if dishonesty surpasses the truth

 

I don’t know If before that twilight

the hours paused 

and their shrieks burst out

 

I grope my way along the road,
