Weekend (Remove filter)
Workweek
Though it’s been a dull, uneventful one,
I’d rather have it over and again
Than through a storm, not knowing if it’s done.
I’m glad it was, let’s do it all again
Monday was dull, as it has always been
Since when have Mondays been the other way?
Maybe when a special day falls therein?
Dawn to dusk, wishing for the end of day
The days between are insignificant;
A...

Improvise. Plagiarise?
Looking for some poem to plagiarise
Pretend I made it up before your eyes
Got to be profound with deepest meaning
Tell you that it all came through dreaming
Or through transcendental meditation
Perhaps even via drugs or medication
Still I cannot seem to find rhyme or reason
Is adapting one of my own poems treason?

Being Perfect!!!
You don't need to be Perfect,
You don't need to be the Best,
Just a Better version of Yourself,

Engraved Insecurities
I spend sleepless nights
Rehearsing the
Bold confident smile
Which lasts
Only
Till I glance at
The palm of my hand
Engraved
With a list of
Insecurities.

Romanticizing Poverty
A ragged boy
Picking up garbage
A malnourished girl
Carrying around
Her brother
A family of five
With patched up clothes
Lonlely old man
Sipping on a cigar
Group of workers
Doing manual labor
A smile
Caught on Camera
Doesn't prove a thing
A smile
Frozen on a
Framed photograph
Doesn't convey the truth
They may not have everything
But they are the happiest
-The world's best l...

Thoughts on a calmer day
It has been too long in this paradigm,
We should have never embraced but now
Has swallowed us up and pushed us into the claws
Of mediocrity. And we,
Part of an elaborate facade that has
Left the mind oblivious
So much, this narrative outburst may almost feel awkward
Amidst earthly gestures of a shallow design.
Burdened by ambitions of a distorted intellect,
Falling onto ...

A Shy Shiraz
Pinotage, they reckon, for cheese
Tempranillo is the choice for Mexican grub
But, I'm somewhat easier to please
While chilling to some melodic jazz
I've had the bold, the brave and the border-line nasty
But I've never had a "Shy Shiraz"
And ...

INSANITY'S BAR
The lights are dim,
The band plays loud,
The audience are the usual crowd.
There's John and Jim against the bar,
Commenting on the lead guitar.
Leanne sits with her best mate Sam,
Shouting over the music, how she loves her man.
Her man, Brad, is at another table,
Flirting with a lass named Mable.
Then Wobbly Bob staggers over the floor,
Empty glass in his hand as he o...

Weekend Quest
Good morning campers
Time for more ramblings from my mind, spewing forth on the page like a student at a house party. Something a bit more story based from me this time, Inspired by a recent trip to Berlin and a simply amazing club called Weekend. I think the poem tells you everything else you need to know.
