ain't ain't a word
ain’t ain’t a word
boy told daddy
teacher said
there ain’t no such word
as ain’t
daddy just
looked at him
told him to
tell the teacher
the word was used
by this family
a long time before
the teacher was born and
will be used long after
she has gone.
boy thought to himself
I ain’t going to tell her

Head Space
One day I looked
inside my head
And there I found
words left unsaid:
Make haste
No time
Forbid
Hate love
Always shout
Never listen
So, I put haste in the waste
Told No to go!
Put a lid on bid
Locked hate in a crate
Gave shout a clout (until it ran out)
And
Got rid of never, forever
I'd like to think
That what remained
In all of us
Is preordained:

Words That Mend Broken Dreams
As fallow spells go, that one went
Not a sign of the partner I was after
Wit and charm were what I needed
Not yawns or cold careless laughter
Souls may crack like china ornaments
A heart may not be intact as it seems
When appears a fellow-spirit speaking
Words that can mend broken dreams
Her face was honest fair and strong
No beauty burnished her features
In...

Within These Walls
These days I feel a kinship with the four white walls,
Which guard my every move, every breath, every thought.
Observe how they close in on me, irked, distraught-
They make the world look small.
I speak to them in unfinished puzzles,
And superficial metaphors,
And subdued gurgles,
And defeated murmurs.
My words are nothing but a brook,
Whose melancholic babbles fill the chilly air.
They ...

Sweet Talk
Smooth like honey,
Your words
Slip through my soul -
Sweetening the bitter
Soothing the sore.
Your Word
Like honey, nurturing
My bones.
I have a craving in my soul,
A sweet tooth for Your own.
"Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones." Proverbs 16:24

Plague Doctor
Plague Doctor
One thing this plague has taught us
Is that close proximity can be lethal
You could be a carrier of ideas
Asymptomatic in their spread
Just your unthoughtful actions
Triggering others to violence
You could infringe on the personal space
Of other people’s beliefs
Carelessly trampling over them
By thinking only of your own gratification
Endang...

Some Words
Some Words
I had been her son all my life
But not all of hers
When she started calling me
By her brother’s name
Not my dad’s
Her bother’s
Dead for these past 10 years
A stroke will do that to you
Make you forget what you were saying
Struggling to find the rig...

Words At Night
All the words to say
The sad ones
The lonely ones
The happy, grateful ones
The mad ones
The ones that circulate through you
But never leave your lips
They rage out onto paper
For all to read
But the ones closest to you
Will never see
These words escape you effortlessly
Words poured out late at night
Words splayed out for others in the light of day
Words that others will relate
Wo...
