Autumn Thoughts

Black steel

curling wrought iron

balustrade

Beneath me

coffee steam

and noise

rise

and a poet

sits talking

animatedly

his foot jiggling

outside

autumn sun

shines on wet roofs

and casts

tree shadows

on house walls
