we may miss the blossom of less known trees  
Like the catkins of weeping willows
that appear like lambs tails in the breeze

Colours are strewn across the sky 
as nighttime fades into the distance 

Everything seems to stand still 
until this devine moment drifts away 
Normal service is quickly resumed 
as we welcome a brand new day

As mist rises above the lake
and birdsong tales are told

Magnolia, fleeting beauties but worth it
Thought to be one of the first floral  shrubs 
Flowers which open up to the heavens
give annual displays of showy cups

A majestic and colourful fanfare
brings some long awaited and welcome cheer 
It is just one of the many reasons 
I look forward to this time of the year

Each one like an ethereal being 
dressed up for a springtime ball
We are invited to the celebration 
all creatures great and small

Our first butterfly of the year 
a welcome and cherished sight
Delicate orange, brown and gold wings 
colours so vivid and bright 

It’s intricate, frilly wings pulsing
as it basked in the warm sun
It brought a smile to my face
hopefully there’s plenty more to come!
