A little cryptic question....if people are interested

I have read this poem a number of times Chris - and I must say it freaked me beacause I am semi arachnophbic - actually I hate them with a passion, but From the picture also, I got the impression of the 'playground bully' - am I right? the imagery and the swings pointed me in that direction. The spider is the bully of insects? Yes - no? Maybe I am going off at a tangent, I have not commented yet because everytime I read it I get the eebi-jeebi's, I am working myself up to it. We all have our phobias :-)

Empty swings always seem to feature in films on an apocalyptic theme - I am thinking about Terminator and its many sequels...

HiChris

Read the poem (although didn't feel I could offer a constructive comment, sometimes it is just like that I guess)

I liked the swing image, didn't seem to relate to the subject matter but instead suggested a playground abduction to me. Maybe that was indeed the point?

Hi Chris, I have to say I'm very impressed with this. I've always been a bit guilty about not checking out many poets' work on this site, but this is a good way to expose your work.
Also, you're not above giving an in-depth discussion of your own work, which is great.
I really love the poem, and your expansion of your thoughts on those key lines.
I'm definitely going to keep an eye on you!
Also, loving the darkness of it... us miserablists have to stick together!

It sure is hard to de-demonize spiders. I have a children's book called: Be Nice to Spiders. It has been through two generations, is tatty and yellowy, and limp as toilet tissue, but the current three-year-old totally loves it.
Would have thought that Charlotte's Web did wonders for the spider. Or the fabulous fable of Arachne herself.
