Don't you hate it when you log off and suddenly realise you have something else to say?
The best pome of the night in my drunken opinion was Isobels 'Wish I was gay' thingy.
Brilliant

It was a top night - so enjoyed listening to everyone. Thanks for your comment Baz - I think you liked listening to all those rude words they told you you couldn't use... It seems you can get away with it when you are a woman - is that inverted sexism?

No .....or yes
It's like black stand up comedians bein able to use the 'N' word.. They get away with it. And rightly so. I hate having not to say it because I would never use it racistly.
It was the obvious rhyme. I'm glad you did it. If anyone was offended, fuck em. Sorry admin peeps, I couldn't put it any politererer.

Baz's coarse comedy routine was laugh out loud. And he's right, Isobel's set was a crowd pleaser. A very enjoyable night ... even though I was in a strangely deflated mood.

It was indeed a good night.
I had a list of all the poets but Gordonzola lost it. Otherwise in the absence of a Darren review i would have attempted one myself. There were several newcomers to the Wigan event but not new to the poetry scene.
They came from as far away as Hebden, Rochdale, Chorley, Bolton and the Wirral.
I think there were about 18 if not 20 poets performed their work, a veritable mix of open floor poetry and performance styles thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
Gordonzola stood in as compere, lighthearted fun with his usual wry and very cheesy humour. Thankyou Mr Cheese.
For me the highlights of the poetry were from Isobel, who has brought her own style and wit to the scene which is a very refreshing experience and long may it continue. I finally got the opportunity to meet Steve Garside whose poetry i love to examine in close detail so it was great to hear his performance. I agree with the others, Baz and his bed scene was hilarious, laugh out loud performance. Pete Crompton finished the night off in grand style even though he didn't think so himself. Steve Reagan also got the audience into participation mode with his super poem which included some song.
Here's a list of the names i can remember off the top of my head so please forgive if i missed anyone, like i said, my list got lost :-)
Ieuan Cwlgyri.
Steve Reagan.
Liz. ( young poet Laureate of Wirral)
Ray.
Dave Stannidge.
Benjamin.
Phil Golding.
Cate Greenlees.
Isobel.
Dave Morgan.
Peter Crompton.
Steve Garside.
Dave Carr,
Baz.
John Togher.
Gordon Zola.
Wiston Plowes.
Sorry, that's all i can remember but there were also a few in the audience who were good supporters even though they didn't actually perform, including my good self.
The Tudor is well and truly back on form after a cold winter!

Hi Janet
I actually logged on to write a review. But you have done one since this morn.Obviously I was gonna do rubbish one, but I'm merrily pissed so it's the only sort. Darren, start doing them again, yours are truthful and insightful.
However I agree with Janet that Mr Zola was an excellent comperist and as I already said I enjoyed Isobel's pome a lot.
But after that brief winter blip I enjoyed Thursday more than for a long time. Met some new people (Steve Regan {whose pome I also enjoyed} and Isobel) and got up from my corner more often than usual, as what I could hear was worth doing so for.
Also, I've heard a lot about snobbery in the pome world, but I ain't noticed any at the Tudor. The pomists here seem to get drunk, do pomes, socialise and laugh.
Thanks all. Good night. Very good

Many thanks for your lovely review Janet - it was a great night for all. I feel I should offer some apologies. I understand that during one act, I was talking rather loudly in the bar area. I hadn't realised that my voice carried quite so well - for one so shy I can be such a loud mouth... I find that so rude when it is done to me. Apologies to the poet - I think the quantity of gin I swilled didn't help. Look forward to seeing you all there next month when I will definitely button it.

Hi y' all! Great to see everybody and welcome all new comers. As usual once the 'negative vampires' (good description Mr Togher) feel regenerayed by a bit o' light Wigan wakes up and rocks!

I didn't listen to any of the poetry. I decided to have a night off and spent most of the night drinking heavily, scowling and generally making glib comments about flowery individuals, most of which were construed as offensive or humourless.
I had a great night.
