WOL comp - what next?
Following Ann's last WOL comp post:
http://www.writeoutloud.net/public/blogentry.php?blogentryid=28025
I was wondering what anyone/everyone feels re the informal WOL competitions that litter the blog every so often? Do you feel they bring something worthwhile to WOL? Should they stay as they are - or would anyone like to suggest any changes or improvements? They are your competitions - free to enter, and, perhaps more importantly, judged by a panel of your peers (and not subject to the egotistical whims of some dodgy "career poet!")
Your suggestions on a postage stamp please; to:
The Wolverine
@ wolserver
WOLworld
WOLtown
WOLsetshire
WOL WOL
or post them here . . .
Regards,
A.E.

Another comp would be good, please Anthony. They've pulled some really good poems out of people and can be genuinely fascinating as they unfold. You could always subcontract it.

I love the Comps. I think that some really good poetry comes out of them - though certain themes seem to spark it more than others.
I'd love to see another one running - though I'm a little too preoccupied with other things at the moment to run one.
The Holy Grail - that's the theme I would love to see people write on. I remember that Pandora's Box (the first comp ever) really produced a lot of good stuff. I think that the HG could potentially do the same - and not necessarily religious stuff. Just an idea of course...
The Comps always make me feel like I'm part of a community. Those tags are something to look for amidst the deluge of blogs that are posted.

I would be more than happy to run a WOL comp if no one else is up for it. As mentioned above they are something our community here does well, enjoys and it does enliven the blogs. Let me know here.
I will be ever so strict mind and the topic will not be 'The holy Grail'

yes another comp please - as a new kid on the block - I have not had a go at a comp yet and I need a challenge to stir me from the lethargy hanging over me like a soggy tent awning! The cat thinks so too - I've had to retype this three times as she tries to add her four pawsworth.

Hi All,
Has WOL Comp died yet again? Any sign of an imminent resurrection?

Hi Anthony.
As I have said earlier in this thread. I think that these informal comps run by a WOL member to his/her liking are what we do best and they really do reinforce links and strengthen our on line community.
I did the last (nonsense)one and currently have too many projects running to do another sadly but would be up for running one in the winter months.
Have you considered running one? The format is out there.
