WHAT I COULD HAVE LEARNED IN LOCKDOWN

entry picture

I could have baked a wholemeal loaf

Or set tomato seeds

I could have made a tenon joint

Or learned to iron a shirt.

I could have planted taters

Or learned to make a fire

Or mixed up concrete with my dad

Or learned the call of birds.

I could have watched the stars at night

Or edged and mowed the lawn

I could have gone on nature walks

Identifying trees.

I might have tried to paint the fence

Or cook a Shepherd’s Pie

Or mend that puncture on my bike

Or read a dozen books.

But all these things just passed me by

With no appeal to me

Besides my time was taken up

With Netflix on TV.

Thanks for the Like, Becky.
And I just noticed your “contraception” reference, Po. “Have you noticed how all the people in favour of birth control have already been born? (The great Benny Hill).

I know how you feel, John. We watched17 episodes of House of Cards before we gave up and requested counselling.

Lockdown taught me loneliness is sickness
It taught me the value of people but sadly I lost the value of time. Time ain't prime rather how it's used is what makes it prime.

Thought provoking!

Actually, Po, genius is said to skip a generation. And my dad was brilliant.

I kinda had kids who are off school in mind when I wrote this, fellas. But your comments make me realise that it applies equally to us adults.

Coulda shoulda woulda but didn't John. The scurrying and time filling is a worthy thing but mentally who's up to it? Apart from Sir Tom Moore of course disproving the old adage that less is more.

I read this poem and I chuckle to myself, as Netflix plays in the background and I am in my PJs for the last 2 days.

Quite felt this one John
