Ordinary

If I pretend for just one day
That time did not take you away
When morning comes I see  you there
I kiss your neck, I stroke your hair

We lie in peaceful harmony
The weekend's here and you're with me
With natural rhythm and easy pace
We turn and now we're face to face

Sunday brings no urgency
I fetch you coffee and make my tea
A routine made of many years
A blissful time before the tears

Hello Alison,

glad I came by to read your work. Above all I am moved by your honesty and eloquence. You put your finger on things with some astuteness. bw.

It is always a challenge to start a new routine.
Missing what was and what could have been haunts our memories...

I really feel for you with this one Alison. It is the ordinary things that we remember and miss the most. Your poems are always gentle and thought provoking. I too have a poem on this theme, may post one day. x

This might have been the first "proper" poem I wrote. Inspired to post it by something Banksy wrote.
