Fairly Compensated
Every passing stage of life that’s risen on the road to greet me,
Has quietly laid to rest, the stage that went before,
And though I mourn the loss of what has gone, I do not mourn completely,
For each gave me its all and never left me wanting more,
So as I slowly age and become ever more complicated,
I do not shed a tear for the passing of my youth,
For each age that has passed has kept me fairly compensated,
And though I did not see it then, I know in hindsight that’s the truth,
So how could I fear growing old and all it’s gifts of time and change,
When I’ve learnt the precious value, of each and every day,
Trading time for life experience, I’d say that’s a fair exchange,
And if the price is growing old? Then I will gladly pay.

Thanks Aviva, and you're right of course, it would be far too chaotic, and there's no going back. And Kev you're also right, and I'm sure you know the old saying, "Youth is wasted on the young," Thank you so much Paul I'm pleased you like it, it's genuinely how I feel about life, I mean, it literally is the only deal on the table, "Trading hours and days for life lessons." And MC, maybe we're all old fools in the end, but I prefer to think that we all, "Move with the times," until we can’t move anymore and become, "Of our time." But some experiences are timeless and ever constant. I think maybe that's why as we get older we become more philosophical, because that's what becomes most relevant? But I think maybe we only become an, "Old fool," if we close our minds? ?
