Taking My Finals

I don't know much
but most of what I do know
I learned from experience
a good teacher but hard and demanding
she never let me slide
or cut me a break
I had to face my mistakes
and admit my failures
had to redo a lot of stuff
delete and continue
still I managed to get through the course
I guess you could give me a grade of C
so I can keep going
I've already forgot most of what I learned
but I remember the important stuff
only now I am sitting at the back of the class
feet up on the desk
and in no hurry to finally graduate
I am comfortable in this chair & desk
and with my place in class
all the rest can clamor for attention
I am fine with where I am
I don't want to go the next grade
the results could be scary
so I am postponing my finals
as long as I can
just waiting for the bell to ring.

I agree with MCs comments. A fine poem which mirrors my own experience dk. I must reflect upon that.

I have.

It hurts.

An enjoyable and educational analogy with life itself. Have you
noticed how the brightest can fail when facing the basics of
life's demands and obligations as they move through this existence of ours? It's almost as if we can sometimes be overqualified in what we set ourselves and to fail when it really matters. Politicians seem adept at this!
