Treading warily if they're wise,
Watching where they go.

Must see them vigilant and wise

To detect deceit and avoid defeat
In the game that's being played.

Thanks SG. I tend to agree with you. The job is hardly geared
to making decisions that are rigid and consistent across the board. Indeed, the words "yes" and "no" are fraught with risk
when uttered by those in positions of influence in that line of work,. And it's a necessity to know the dissembling and deceit
that exists in life. not least when ambition and power exist in
all their unappealing varieties. Harking back to my own old line
of work, it helps to think like a crook when dealing with a crook!! 😌
I like the way you hint at the difficulty of the job, MC. Having known some politicians, I can't subscribe to the popular view that they are all heartless crooks. A nice balance here.
