My name is Mr Darcy
Elizabeth is my wife 
We live here in your garden 
where we live a happy life 

We are quite timid creatures 
and like to hide out of sight 
You may see us shuffling around 
late evening or at night 

We wear a coat of prickly spines
have sharp claws on our toes 
We have small, beady black eyes
a long snout and wet nose 

If you catch us unawares 
we will curl up tight and small 
To protect us from danger
we become a spiky ball

We want to say thank you 
for giving us a place to stay  
Also for the food and drink
you leave us every day 

Now we have a perfect home
we hope to raise a family 
Will we be blessed with hoglets?
