The best present

My daughter brought me chocolates & wine.

I said:

you alone would have been fine

She gave me such a loving hug

The type you'd bottle, if only you could

My girl, I said

My Dad, she smiled

And then we just sat for a little while

Nestled in the comfort of reminisce

Of laughter & holidays & family bliss…

But, then a beep came from her phone

And I was dropped just like a stone!

She typed away until she went

But, still, I know she's heaven sent.

Fathersday

Lovely, Stephen. I like the way your poem tells the whole truth. A delight.
The postal service round us is rubbish. None of my Father's Day cards have been delivered yet... 😌

Perhaps you are just the representative of love that is always
there,. No need to worry about missing your response! If I may suggest, just take comfort in my adaptation of an old saying:
Familiarity breeds content!! 😃

A poem of familial love directed toward a Dad who is the prime object of that love. You are a lucky man Stephen. Happy Father's Day,
Keith
