THE BOYS FROM KURDISTAN

They pamper to our idleness and do what we once did

But you’d not get your sponge out now to earn their seven quid;

Through summer, winter, snow and rain they pocket what they can

The car wash boys with red-raw hands that come from Kurdistan.

There’s a wonderful irony, Stephen, that these “lazy good-for-nothing benefits immigrants” are making a living out of our indolence,

Thanks, John, for a good poem with a nice, bouncy rhythm. Some of the conditions in these pop-up car washes are scandalous. As you say, we wouldn't want to do it.

I have to say, MC, they’ve got more gumption than our numpties simply by the fact that they’ve come here.
And thanks for the Like, Tim.

They'll probably be owning a car-wash soon enough if they
are committed enough to making the most of their good fortune
being here. Check America for some of the great success
stories of immigrants adapting/integrating and willing to do
what needed to be done to make progress back in the day
before the assumptions of "entitlement".

Spot on John
...and who knows, one of them might eventually save enough to pay his way through a degree in medicine; to save and improve our lives....if only our government would let them!
