Strings Unseen

Being alone is safer these days,
Than tangled in someone else's haze.

Some are trapped in their mirrored gaze,
Some lost in echoes of old yesterdays.

Some drift without knowing where to steer,
Some crave closeness, but not too near.

They disrupt the peace that I hold dear,
Wanting me just enough to disappear.

But that's more toxic than all of the rest,
Using my heart as a fleeting test.
Excuses crafted to serve their quest,
Leaving me drained, never at rest.

No strings, no ties, it's easier that way,
Some prefer to drift, to never stay.
But I’m not made for that,

If I like you, it's real,
not a game,
If I miss you,
my nights aren’t the same.
If I love you,
it's not just a flame
It's deep, it's true, it's more than a name

Rez, So true, I can relate. Love the honest, heartfelt style in which this is written. Marla
