pictures from magazines
I made a collage of pictures from magazines
To find out once and all
Whose body I would watch
When im not looking.
I tore the photos out
Of working men
And girls in underclothes
And stuck em all down
With dribble and come.
I made a theme
All the men from behind
Lifting iron bars of scaffolding,
They formed a muscled back.
And there
deep within
something stirred.
Something fundamental
As far from me as any other
Bridge of reinforced steel
Yet sighing over my shoulder.
Now, every time I meet a guy who turns his back on me
A thrill shoots up my spine,
Hits my brain adrenalin
And I run miles in the wrong direction
Straight up to his face and say
Well, why are you looking, why?
I forget those girls
With lanolin breasts,
black gusset legs
standing sheer on precipice
looking down over the gentle pass of my friends
whose pink lips are beautiful,
whose hair falls over
gentle sleep
and I watch
the belief
that I can only hurt
so we neither believe
that it could work.
